Paul Sanders

Ainsworth, Nebraska

As a child, Paul was fascinated by the fact that a machine could finish a complicated calculation in seconds while a person needed minutes and a page full of scribbles to reach the same answer. That curiosity stayed with him.

He grew up in a conservative family in Ainsworth, Nebraska, and worked hard to earn his place in the Applied Math department at the University of Colorado. A few years later, the conversations around him began to question everyday assumptions, including the money we all use. Paul started reading research that challenged government-issued (fiat) currency and went to talks about new ways for people to exchange value. Then Bitcoin appeared, the first cryptocurrency.

Paul was not convinced. He doubted that a network needing so much computing power to check every transaction and keep its ledger could last, especially when only a handful of people were taking part. He was wrong about that: Bitcoin kept running and grew into a global network used by millions of people.

What stayed with him was how many people came to crypto without understanding it, and how many of them were exploited because of that. He started Bitcoin Billionaire to give people clear, honest explanations, so that they can understand crypto and make their own decisions instead of watching from the sidelines or trusting the wrong people.
